The University of Connecticut Women’s Basketball program officially brought back one of its own to Storrs, replacing Marisa Moseley who left to become the head coach at Boston University. Head coach Geno Auriemma announced Jasmine Lister’s hiring Thursday afternoon who will come on as an assistant coach and focus primarily on guard development, while assisting in recruiting duties as well. Lister originally started her coaching career at UConn as a graduate assistant before quickly moving up the coaching ranks. Before being brought back to UConn, Lister was part of two successful programs in the last two seasons (University of Washington & DePaul University), getting tutelage from offensive gurus Mike Neighbors and Doug Bruno in the process. Considering the 2016-2017 Washington and 2017-2018 DePaul teams each ranked in the top-10 nationally in most offensive categories, it’s probably safe to say she’ll probably have an immediate impact in Storrs– especially with nice weapons such as Katie Lou Samuelson returning for her senior season, as well as #1 ranked guard Christyn Williams coming to play also.
Fans are generally familiar with the “next woman up” culture at UConn when it comes its players. The same can be said for its coaches too.
